Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks

I was lucky enough to receive the brand spanking new Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid lipsticks at a recent launch event I attended. I have been eagerly awaiting for these for ages since I spotted some pics awhile back so these were definitely the highlight of my goodie bag and I couldn't wait to test them out and review them for you all.

If you want to read what I have to say about these new liquid lipsticks, them keep reading!

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks

Shades
Nude Thrill
A lovely brown nude, I find this colour similar to MAC's Velvet Teddy however slightly lighter making it more wearable for me. This has a slight peach hue to it.

Nude Flush
My favourite of the collection, this is a lovely pink nude shade. This is super easy to wear everyday

Electric Pink
This is an intense hot pink. Quite bright in tone, this is a great choice for summer and spring.

Orange Shot
In the tube it looks like a red orange, however when swatched it seems to look way more orange.

Fuchsia Ecstasy
A gorgeous, blue toned fuchsia colour. This isn't as deep as it looks in the tube.

Rebel Red
A true red, this is a stunning red shade that would look incredible on pale skin.

Berry Boost
A rich berry shade, this is definitely perfect for Winter months for that "bitten" colour.

Possessed Plum
Another of my favourites, this is a beautiful plum, maroon colour. This isn't extremely dark to where it looks like a vampire.

Formula
The formula of these liquid lipsticks isn't what I was expecting. They are more of a moussey formula rather than watery. I have found they don't actually dry matte. They dry to a cream finish, very similiar to the Creamy Matte Liquid Lipsticks by Chi Chi Cosmetics and the Soft Matte Lip Creams by NYX. As a result, they are not transfer resistant and they will slip and slide around on your lips.

Application
They apply beautifully smooth and are beautiful for everyday use. I do find the more slippery, non-matte formula a little frustrating for the really pigmented colours especially trying to get a crisp line and no smudging. I like the shape of the doe foot applicator, it is larger than most liquid lipsticks I've tried so it does take a little bit of getting used to.

Overall, I think these brand new drugstore liquid lipsticks are a good choice for anyone wanting a creamy pigmented mouse lipstick. I've been getting a lot of use out of Nude Flush and think it is an absolutely perfect colour for everyday!

Have you tried these out yet? What are your thoughts?

  1. I was initially disappointed with the formula cause I was expecting it to be long-lasting, but i have to admit, it has grown on me and its quite comfortable!

    1. Definitely agree! I was expecting like... proper matte liquid lipstick. But I feel like these are more like a cream matte finish. In saying that, I love the way they feel on my lips and the way they don't accentuate any dry patches on my lips!
