To be perfectly honest with you all, I'm not the best contour person... I'm kinda crap to be honest. I watch billions of tutorials and they make it seem so easy. Just suck in your cheeks and place the shadow where the hollows are. Simple right?! Except, I swear to God, I cannot find these damn "hollows". My face is a round blob with no definition. In the last year I've been working hard on my contour game and I feel like I've started to finally become semi-okay at it!
The following products are my guiding lights, my guardian angels in the scary world of contouring.
As you may have seen in my Sephora/MAC USA haul here I picked up the beaaaautiful Tarte Limited Edition Pin Up Girl Amazonian Clay Blush Palette! My Tarte cherry got popped!
Anyways, I thought I would give you guys a really quick review over this little stunner!
I have a lot of love for Innoxa. I feel like just in the past year, they have seriously stepped up their game! These past couple of months I have been using their products - both makeup and skincare - more and more! I recently posted a review on the Innoxa Renew Age Erase Serum foundation here explaining my love for it!
Anyways, a little about Innoxa. The company claims to take inspiration from nature and are strongly recognised with being dermatologically tested and completely against animal testing - fantastic! Innoxa claims to cater for all skin types including the most sensitive of skins - another plus! I honestly cannot fault the simplicity and natural aspect to the brand :)

For this post, I'm going to go through some stand out Innoxa products in my collection in time for the upcoming 40% off Myer sale (23rd November until the 30 November) on all full priced Innoxa products. More details on that lateeeerz...

These seem to be floating around on the Instagram world as of late, and I finally got my hands on some! The colours that most stood out to me were "In Love With Ginger", a bright orange red shade, and "As You Want Victoria", a dark fuschia pink plum shade.
I was sent a bottle of the Innoxa Renew Age Erase Serum Foundation* agggges ago and have been using it quite regularly, and in short I'm super impressed.
A super exciting post today! I finally plucked up the courage to make a purchase to a shipping service company from some websites that don't ship to Australia (Sephora and MAC, I'm looking at you!).
I have an affiliate link for ComGateway and would seriously appreciate if you would join their service using my link: http://comgateway.com/heytherejacquelyn/
ANYYYYYWAYS, let's go onto the haul damage!

ANYYYYYWAYS, let's go onto the haul damage!
Definitely the most mentioned palette in the beauty world is the Urban Decay Original Naked palette. It has spawned many "dupes" and even fakes if you search hard enough. A perfect collection of 12 neutral eyeshadows that range from shimmer to matte, from beige to black allowing you to create whatever neutral eye look your heart desires. But is it really worth that hefty ~$82 pricetag on BeautyBay? Especially if you can get your hands on a decent dupe for a fraction of the price?
Yep. Another month has gone. As I am writing this I am a day away from finishing university for 2014! Fourth year done and dusted. Still feel like graduation is a long way away though...
Anyway, let's get onto my favourites for the month of October!
So I went from zero to six in the space of a month. Woops #sorrynotsorry. These are the glorious, hyped up Milani Baked Blushers. They are Instragram famous, YouTube famous, beauty famous. I purchased these because everybody keeps talking about them and I totally needed to purchase a whole bunch of them...
This one is for all you nosy people ;)
I honestly don't keep much in my handbag, but when I go to uni I usually throw in my iPad as well. Let's have a quick squiz...
Every beauty blogger/Youtuber has talked about these lipglosses! I honestly thought it was all because off affiliate programs or deals, but of course I was suckered in...
If you follow me on Insty (@heytherejacquelyn) you would know I adore these and generally throw them on nearly every Makeup of the Day posts I show! The formula ticks all the right boxes for me and the colour range is phenomenal. I also find the customer service fantastic! I put off purchasing these until the beautiful Jaclyn Hill collaborated with them on two lipglosses and that was that! These smell reallllly nice. Like I can't quite put my finger on the scent... but it seems like a mixture of citrus and vanilla. Not as sugary sweet as the NYX Butter Glosses.
I find there to be fantastic pigmentation throughout all the lipgloss colours I have. Some are sheerer than others but nothing that is disappointing. I don't find them to be crazy sticky, but they still have a bit of a stick to them which encourages them to stay longer on the lips which is always a plus in my books!!!
Firstly, can I just say what the hell?! When did we get into OCTOBER? Like... there is only three months to go for 2014. I have about 4 weeks of uni left for the year. Crazy. Anyways, as usual I have my monthly beauty favourites. I have tried to curb my spending lately and make the most of the products I have at home so expect for the next couple of months to be current collection type posts!
Let's jump straight into what I've been loooovin'!
To be perfectly honest with you all, I never bothered to do my eyebrows until a couple months ago (I know, SHOCK HORROR!). I tried using powder and pencil and I loved the way my eyebrows were looking all filled in and neatened up. I was hearing so much hype about the Dipbrow and I thought why not give it a try and see if I can get bangin' brows.
YouTube made me do it! So everyone and their mums have talked about the amazingness that is Makeup Geek eyeshadows created by the ever so lovely Marlena from makeupgeek on YT. I have always been interested in purchasing them and finally got around to getting six of them a couple months ago (along with a brush and pigment)! I gave myself a little while to have a play around with them and to figure out how I really feel about them - and to be honest... they are fantastic.
I've been loving high end makeup lately. I think I'm budgeting more, allowing me to splurge a little bit more on faaancy pieces. But, we all love a bargain! I have a pretty extensive drugstore collection, so it took me a while to whittle it down to my favourites for under $10 AUD.
Let's get into it!
Okay, guys... is anyone else feeling like these months are flying by? As I'm writing this it is the 1st of September, literally only four months until we are in 2015! This month I feel like I haven't been experimenting as much with my makeup, stressed with uni and feeling like I'm lacking in time more often than not has seen me take a bit more of a relaxed makeup feel!
Let's jump straight into!
Let's jump straight into!
I featured this bad boy in a previous monthly favourites post so I thought it would only be fair to dedicate an entire post to the beautiful Stila In the Light eyeshadow palette. This has been a hugely popular eyeshadow palette in the beauty world, but like I said in my favourites post, I hadn't bothered to really look into it because I already had the Naked palette and felt I didn't really need the colours.
Sooooo guys, I have been naughty. It was my birthday in the beginning of July and let's just say, I went cray. I bought way too much makeup, but you only turn 21 once in life!
Just a pre warning... this post is definitely pic heavy! Prepare yo'self.
Just a pre warning... this post is definitely pic heavy! Prepare yo'self.
I've been requested quite a few times to do a review of the BYS blushers. BYS is one of the cheapest brands of makeup in Australia and can be found in places like Kmart or $2 type shops (Reject Shop, Crazy Clarks... etc). I know many people who avoid BYS because they are a "cheap" brand therefore quality isn't as good. To be honest, I've only ever really tried their blushes and nail polishes, both of which I am extremely pleased with! All their single blushes are less than $5 from memory and the trio blush I think can be found from Kmart for just over $5. Absolute bargain prices.
Another month has passed. This month felt like a big month to me! I turned 21 during July - extremely old, I know! Anyways this month I bought a lot of new things and trialled a lot of new things and these are things I've been reaching for the most!
When Urban Decay first released images on the third instalment of the popular Naked palettes (not including Basics or Flushed) I was gobsmacked at just how beautiful the colours looked. The rosy-gold hues are absolutely gorgeous and extremely popular currently. I purchased this when it was first release whilst I was overseas last year from Sephora but I do know Australians can purchase it through Beauty Bay.
So I thought I would whip this up ASAP so I can start playing around with my new goodies and including them in my daily FOTDs on Instagram (@heytherejacquelyn if you weren't aware...)!
I decided to make a purchase through Luxola on the afternoon of Thursday the 17th of July and I received it bright and early this morning, Monday the 21st of July - a total of 5 days, including a weekend... ALL THE WAY FROM SINGAPORE. Oh, and you also get a super reliable tracking number! So safe to say I was extremely impressed with the amazing shipping. Thats not all! The parcel was packaged amazingly. Each item was individually wrapped in bubble wrap. Not just a little, but two bubble wrap sheets were used for each item.
Seriously though... look at the amount of bubble wrap! |
I've been asked to do this since I first created heytherejacquelyn, but I've put it off... until now. I have eight Lime Crime lipsticks and I'm going to lip swatch them all for your enjoyment.
I received this blush the other day and was extremely excited to give it a try! I have previously used their original formula blushes but have never ventured into their Instain range. The shade I was sent is Toile - an intense pink/coral shade that reminds me a lot of Strawberries!
As a fairly new brand of cosmetics, I had only heard of Colour Theory a handful of times. I tried searching for the products to give them a try however, Colour Theory is only stocked in Amcal and Guardian pharmacy and alas, I have none near me! However I was lucky enough to be kindly sent a couple products to test out and I have been pleasantly surprised! I honestly wasn't expecting anything that impressive especially for the price, but wowee, the ones I have tried have been making me want more!
Anyway, let's get into it!
I received five products in total; 2 lipsticks, a bronzer, a nail polish and a nail polish remover.
Instagram has been blowing up lately over the newest releases by the Priceline exclusive brand Savvy by DB. These little packs, smaller than the size of my hand contain two products - new to the brand - for only $5! How could a girl resist? When I went in to my local Priceline there were so many different options it was hard to choose! Products including pigments, blush, concealers, lipstick, lip crayon etc. Everything. I decided upon a blush duo and two pigment packs!
Wildflower/Woods - Glamourama blush duo - Pearl/Copper |
It's been a hot minute since I did my last empty post and I have accumulated a bunch of trash to talk to you guys about. This is another long one, so prepare yourself with a tea and biscuits!
Okay. The heavens created something in the form of an eyeshadow palette. More specifically, the Lorac Pro Palette. With all this new talk about the brand new Lorac Pro Palette 2, I thought I'd give some love to the palette that has definitely got my heart. With 16 beautiful, neutral shades, if you are a neutral eye wearer you NEED this palette, NEED.
It's the end of the month already and I have definitely got some new favourites for you all!
Let's get stuck into them!
These have been clogging up my Instagram feed lately, but I just couldn't justify the $24 pricetag at Priceline for a simple matte lip cream/lipstick. Howwwwwever, just as luck would have it, Priceline decided to have a little sale the other week and was selling them for a measly $10! Bargain! Considering I got three for only $6 more than what a single one would cost regularly! Anyway, continuing on from the Priceline sale, let's talk about the product.
Bourjois describes these babies as a lipstick with a bold matte finish and "enhanced" colour, supposed to not transfer and last for a ridiculous 24-hour time period. I picked up three colours; Peach Club, Ole Flamingo! and Nude-ist. There are eight colours in total and a lot of the colours tend to be on the "red" side.
Let's get into it!
So you have all probably already heard about the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC) Lip Tars and what a revolutionary/interesting product they are. Anyways, I purchased all six of mine off Lipstick Republic for about $18. So basically, if you weren't aware, lip tars are basically a liquid consistency type of lip colour product. They have amazing pigmentation and you literally need a drop to do your entire mouth, therefore the small little tube will last you an eternity! Similar to regular lipsticks, you can mix the different colour to create your own particular shade, however, the liquid consistency of the tars allow you to easily blend and mix.
I've decided to do a little two part series about my favourite brushes or the ones I use most commonly! First up - face brushes. Anything to do with my base, cheeks etc.
Just a heads up - I purchased all my Real Technique brushes, ELF products and Eco Tools brushes from iHerb! It's a fantastic site and I recommend it because of their variety and also their cheap shipping! I have made like 4 orders through them and will continue to go back! I have a code to get up to $10 off for your first order: VOW650
Firstly, I want to say sorry! The last couple weeks have been hard on me, with final uni assignments due and I'm working more than usual. My whole "beauty" life has been on the sideline unfortunately. If I could do makeup all day, err'day I would, but alas, life is more complicated than that.
Anywhooos, this is my monthly favourites. Better late than never, guys!
The worst task of being a beauty lover? Cleaning brushes. You should be spot cleaning after like every use... I don't. And you should be deep cleaning once a week... I don't. I generally push my deep cleaning to once every fortnight or longer. I know that is terrible but I have in total close to 70 brushes, so I'm pretty safe and can generally use new brushes every day anyway!
I've had multiple request how I clean my brushes so I thought why not, a brush pictorial for you!
If you follow me on Insty (which you should! @heytherejacquelyn) I posted I received these two bad boys in the mail from the lovely Ulta3 team! These have been getting a lot of talk recently in the Australian beauty scene and I have been looking for them for ages but could never find them in the stores.
There is a total of six shades for the Ulta3 Lip Paints. I received Extreme Pink and Electric Orange - both pretty intense colours. I'm wanting to purchase Manic Mauve and Loud Purple asap!
Extreme Pink
Extreme Pink is a cool-toned bright Barbie type pink. It looks fantastic on. I am a sucker for a bright pink lip. I thought it might be too bright, but it isn't as bright as Australis Mal-I-Boo so it definitely makes it more wearable!
Electric Orange
I do love my oranges and this is no exception. It is a lovely orange colour. It is bright but muted... if that even makes sense. Definitely wearable, however I do choose the pink over the orange because I stress out about the whiteness of my teeth #firstworldproblems
The formula of these is fantastic, especially for the $5.95 price tag! Look how smooth and creamy they look on my lips! Just so you are aware my lips are hella chapped right now, even to the point of bleeding but these mask it so nicely! Also they smell like peppermint. If you don't like scents you won't like this because the scent is strong, but I love minty smells with lip products. Everytime I put these on I get excited by the smell and sniff them like crazy. I am weird.
I wore these for about 4 hours (no eating or drinking) with no touchups and they stayed well on my lips. They also reapplied lovely, didn't go patchy with reapplication. They don't dry matte or anything and stay on your lips with a lovely sheen.
I can't really fault them!
- Fantastic colour payoff

In Australia, Winter is approaching at what seems to be a turtle type speed. However, I am a huuuuge fan of Autumn/Winter makeup! The colours are divine - the reds, the burgundys, the purples. So I thought I might do a quick little post about the lip products (other than lip balm, duh) I'll be reaching for the most these seasons!
Revlon Matte Balm - Elusive:
This is the perfect pink to just throw on. It's looking darker in the picture, but to be honest it is a perfect everyday pink. Creamy, pigmented and smooth. Will be grabbing this one on days I don't feel like rocking a bold lip.
Revlon Matte Balm - Shameless:
Same formula as Elusive - creamy, pigmented and smooth. Amazing colour to be seen in the drugstore. Loving my purple lips lately, I think they look bold but still wearable. Easing to apply and touch up so definitely keen to wear this one.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - San Paulo:
One of my favourite formulas ever. These all feel so smooth and velvety on the lips, something the Australis Velourlips failed. They don't overly dry out the lips and they are extremely pigmented. This is a darker 'raspberry' type shade. Perfect wintery colour.
Australis Lipstick - Gangsta Rap:
This particular shade has been all the rage over my instagram lately! I know why! It's a lovely pink that borderlines purple and really gives any look a bit of something extra. The formula of these lipsticks are fantastic and they are relatively cheap in the world of Australian makeup!
MAC - Rebel:
A hugely popular shade, especially for this time of year. I love this lipstick so much! It lasts for the longest time and looks amazing with a simple eye and matte skin. Ah, just look at it! A purple toned red that is one of my favourite MAC lipsticks!
What will you be wearing on your lips this coming Autumn and Winter???

Another month has passed and we're getting ever so close to being half way done with 2014! This month I really expanded my products, ie. I did a lot of shopping. These are the standout picks for this month!
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri:
I have always used my Seche Vite but this month I picked the Sally Hansen version up because I just ran out of my SV and this just so happened to be on sale. I didn't have that high of expectations for this product, but it suprisingly did a lot better than I thought it would. It doesn't give the gel/thick kind of look Seche Vite does, but that isn't always such a bad thing. It dried super fast and has helped my nail polish last a decent amount of time on my nails with small amounts of wear and tear. I've been reaching for this everytime I've done my nails in the past three weeks! Recommend!
Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque:
You know it's fancy when they use 'masque' rather than 'mask'. Anyway, I went to the Aesop shop and I was initially wanting to get the Parsley Seed masque, however she recommened I try this one out because my skin is more on the oily side and I am prone to blemishes. I am extremely glad I did. I've been using this once a week and I am loving it. I am currently on medication for my acne, so I'm not sure if this is entirely to do with this product, but my face definitely showed an improvement after I used this mask. The redness was definitely reduced and the swelling has noticeably shrinked from my current pimples. Excited to use it again!
Lorac Pro Palette:
Okay, so to be fair I only received this like two weeks ago, but oh my goodness. It's beautiful. I'm going to right a blog post on this baby, but in short terms I love it. Soft, buttery shades. Crazy pigmentation. Only fault I can find it that the shadows do cause a bit of a mess within the palette, but I'm willing to live with that!
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer:
I purchased this late last year whilst I was in Thailand and within the last month I've been using this on a regular basis. It is so brightening under my eyes and looks flawless. I haven't found too much creasing until about the 4-5 hour mark, which is pretty good in my books. It is hard to get a hold of here in Australia, so luckily I decided to pick up two of them overseas. Phew!
Benefit Box Blush Brush:
I have a million of these. You get them with the boxed powders you get from Benefit. I have been using these brushes for months and months as my contour brush. They seem to have a very similar shape to the famous NARS Ita brush, so they work wonders at helping to carve out my non-existent cheekbones. If you have this sitting around your vanity, give it a go at contouring!
Left-to-Right: Revlon Shameless, SG Violet Crumble, MB Tough as Taupe, MAC Soft and Gentle
Revlon Matt Balm - Shameless:
I had to pick this shade up when I went to buy some of these new balms. It is soooo beautiful. I've been wearing this shade on days where I want a bold, dark lip. Formula is incredible. Creamy, smooth and so pigmented. They feel fantastic on the lips as well. Ace job, Revlon!
Sportsgirl Pout About It Lipstick - Violet Crumble:
When I haven't been reaching for Shameless, I've been reaching for this pretty thing. Can you tell I've got a thing for purple toned colours lately? These Sportsgirl lipsticks are lovely and they have a wonderful shade selection. If you live in Australia, I'd definitely recommend you check them out! I've only started purchasing the lipsticks recently, but yep... they are becoming a favourite formula!
Maybelline Color Tattoo - Tough as Taupe:
I purchased this shade thinking it would make a great base to my eyeshadow because it's matte and neutral, but nope. I hated the way it looked on my eyes. It made me look ill or sickly. Anyways, it was sitting in my draw getting no use until I started seeing on Instagram using the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade (?) and I had an epiphany! This colour looks fantastic in my eyebrows. I have received numerous comments when I use this and thats when you know you've got a good thing going! I wish th texture was a bit more wet as these tend to dry out fast, but the colour is perfection with my dark, borderline black eyebrows!
MAC Soft and Gentle:
This month I've been really giving my S&G a workout. I previously stayed soley with my Mary Lou-Manizer by The Balm, but this month I've strayed toward S&G. It gives a beautiful sheen to the skin and makes you look healthy, alive and glowy! There is a reason why this is one of MAC's most talked about products!
Those have been the products I have been loving lately! I've really been trying to play up my makeup this last month and I've discovered new products in my collection I love!
What have been your favourites?! I'd love to read them!

It may not look like much, but it still hurt my little bank account. On Easter Saturday I decided to go shopping with one of my close friends and let's just say... she's a bad influence!
Left-to-Right: SG Violet Crumble, SG Candy, SG Black Magic, SG Mad About You,
BB Shocking Matte Pink
Sportsgirl Lipsticks:
I am in love with them. They are smooth, creamy and extremely pigmented. They have a huge range of colours! I have no faults with them. I'm swooning hardcore right now. Definitely pick them up if you haven't tried them before! High end quality for a cheap price! Everyone has always raved about them, but I was always so skeptical about them. But damn... I regret not purchasing them earlier! They are always coming out with new colours so I'll be grabbing a few... on a regular basis!
Price: $9.95 (however sales meant I purchased Black Magic and Candy for only $3.47!)
Price: $9.95 (however sales meant I purchased Black Magic and Candy for only $3.47!)
Boe Beauty - Shocking Matte Pink:
Okay, for $2 a piece... they aren't too bad. They definitely aren't as creamy and require a couple more swipes to get opacity, but in general they're pretty decent. Definitely a good purchase for $2! Not exactly "matte" though... definitely a bit of a sheen still present after swiping.
Price: $2
Left-to-Right: MB Fit Me #330, Savvy Petite Pink, Savvy Heavenly Highlight, Boe Beauty Shimmer Powder, SG Eyeshadow Crayon
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick #330:
I had to go to soooo many shops to find this shade! Everywhere I went there was even none left or someone annoying person had opened them up and swatched them all! Frustration. Anyway... I bought this shade to do some cream contouring because it definitely reminds me of the new Nars Matte Multiples. I've used it a couple times and I love it! It's fantastic. The colour is great and the blend-ability is fantastic. Extremely happy with this.
Price: $15.95
Savvy by DB Cheek Balms:
I read somewhere that the Heavenly Highlight shade is a close dupe to the Benefit's Watt's Up! (can anybody vouge for this???) so I knew I had to hunt it down! I also picked up Petite Pink. I don't really know what I'm going to do with Petite Pink. It seems to be a really light pastel colour, so I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to pull it off as a blusher. I haven't used these, but the texture is really nice!
Price: $3
Boe Beauty Shimmer Powder:
This looked too beautiful in the pan to pass it off. Unfortunately I swatched it and it is verrrrry glittery! I don't know whether or not this is going to look good, I'll have to play around with it a little bit and see what I can do. Snaps to Boe Beauty however for coming out with a highlighter even though most drugstore brands are pretty slack with that area!
Price: $2
Sportsgirl Glide on by Eye Shadow Crayon:
This came down to less than a buck. I can't turn that away. It's not crazy pigmented, but I've seen worse (I'm looking at you, Australis Eyeshadow Cream Duo!). I haven't worn it yet, so can't vouge for it's staying power or any crease issues, but so far so good!
Price: $0.36c or somethiiiing
Mario Badescu Drying Lotion:
This is a cult product in the beauty world. I've been umming and ahhing about buying it for the longest time and I finally decided to just do it and see how it worked. I've used it once and I think it does work. It seems to shrink my pimples up overnight like a little miracle worker! I'm going to keep testing it out and I'll let you know my final thoughts!
Price: $26.95
Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque:
Now this was an unexpected purchase. I decided to treat myself to a face treatment that might actually help my face since it's been going through a crazy time lately and it's driving me bonkers. This little pretty jar was definitely a pretty penny, but so far I am extremely pleased with it! It's so calming and light on the skin and it smells lovely. Will let you know my future thoughts!
Price: $51
Katy Perry Meow:
I have been wanting this for so long! It smells amazing. Thats all. I'm not good with scents so I can't really describe it. It is sweet and has a vanilla essence to it! <3
Price: $29
